Evolution of education and the future of Universities

This is the kind of post I was going to write, if I had time and the writing skills of this guy. In fact I had already started writing it, using a top-down approach, whereas the post I am linking uses a bottom up approach.

The post from Robert Cringeley is about the seismic changes in education because of the accelerating pace of technology development. Kids at school now must be bored when confronted with an education system that was probably good for the last century, but has really very little to say when compared to the knowledge any kid can get from the Internet. And it is not only about the quantity of knowledge, but also about the new way the knowledge is assimilated by kids.

Anyway, Ken Robinson has a very similar view of the need for an overhaul of the whole education system. Here is a video from his TED talk.

Later I'll post the very first draft I was writing about Universities. It was based on a talk I had at Stanford with Paul Marca, but Cringeley and Robinson did a much better job ;-)
