The singularity is near :-)

This is interesting. 10k processors to simulate a portion of the mouse's brain. This is called strong AI, and the vision is shared by Ray Kurzweil in his latest book: "The singularity is near".

I am now reading Penrose's: "Shadows of the mind"; the author explains that current approaches to simulations (based on the Turing Machine) cannot ignite consciousness.

I would like to understand more about it, and also more about Cell Biology, which I am studying right now, too!

On the Italian national TV

The Video Cast at the Embassy was featured in the news (TG2 at 8:30 pm) on Channel 2, which is one of the national Italian TV Stations.

The lonely net

April 2001 - That's how the idea of Tipic and Splinder started

Using the Net today can be a lonely experience but it shouldn't be! One of the unanswered questions that people have when using the Net is: What are other people doing? What are they looking at? What are they talking about? What are they playing? Where can I join them? Where is the action taking place? What's hot and what's not? Today there is no single answer to the question, so there is an opportunity to build the tools to provide the answer.

The video web cast is online

The first video cast from the US Embassy in Rome went really well except for some technical details that are being fixed. The video is now online. The next one will be on March 28, 4:00 p.m. (CET).

Web Cast

On March 14th I will be on a Web Cast hosted by the US Embassy in Rome. We will talk about first generation entrepreneurs in Italy.

About me

I am currently trying to figure out the "big picture" about technology and where we are heading to ... More specifically, I am interested in bio-inspired models and algorithms that can be used to make the Internet and the Web a better place.

I speak Italian, English, French and Portuguese. I like reading about Science Fiction, Science, Technology and Economics.

Let's restart from here.

Everytime I start a new site or a new blog, or both, it is great; I feel free to do or write whatever I want. Today is no different!
